Post Voice Notes as Statuses: WhatsApp Voice Notes Status Update

WhatsApp has recently released some really amazing features with the aim of improving user experience on the app. Some of the features include; status updates shared with your contact list, Status Reactions, WhatsApp communities, Link Previews Status updates, etc.

The meta-owned instant messaging platform last month added a new interesting feature to its collection – Voice Status after testing it in January with its Android and iOS beta testers.

The recently introduced Voice Status update feature enables users to record and share voice messages of up to 30 seconds as their status updates that will be visible to their contacts for up to 24 hours.

“Voice status can be used for sending more personal updates, especially if you feel more comfortable expressing yourself by talking rather than typing,” said WhatsApp in a blog post.

Accessed within the text status area, the feature provides users with more control over their voice recordings by letting them discard recordings before sharing them. This Whatsapp voice notes status update is also end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that only you and the person you’re communicating with can listen to the shared voice note statuses, and nobody in between, not even WhatsApp.

Here’s how you can use it in simple steps-

  • First, navigate to the Status.
  • Now, hit the floating action button with the pencil icon inside.
  • Here, you’ll find a microphone icon at the bottom right.
  • Tap and hold on to it to record and let go to stop.
  • Once you’re done recording, hit the send icon on the bottom right.

This functionality also gives users the ability to delete already posted voice notes for everyone just like it is with other status updates like photographs and videos.

For one to listen to voice messages submitted on statuses, they must be using the latest version of WhatsApp.
