Uganda Silverbacks lose to Cape Verde in FIBA AfroBasket

The Uganda Silverbacks’ journey at the FIBA AfroBasket championship ended last night after losing 79-71 to Cape Verde in the quarter finals at the Kigali Arena, Rwanda.

Cape Verde proved to be a strong team all night long as they posted a 24-20 lead in the first quarter finals.

The Uganda Silverbacks attempted to make a comeback in the second quarter but Cape Verde still managed to lead with 19-15 making it an overall of 43-35 at half time.

In the third quarter, Cape Verde proved to lead in 18- 16 to claim an impressive 10-point lead heading into the last quarter with an overall 61-51 lead.

Uganda’s attempts to fight hard to lead proved futile as cape Verde won the match with 79-71 lead.

Cape Verde now moves to the semi-finals to face Tunisia along side Senegal and Ivory Coast which will also play in the same semi-finals.

The Ugandan Silverbacks in their third appearance at the championship have left a strong mark at the tournament after surpassing their expectations in Kigali.
