Micho drops 12 players ahead of Ethiopia friendly, World Cup qualifier against Kenya
Uganda Cranes Head Coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has unveiled the list of 19 players, majorly from the StarTimes Uganda premier league that traveled to Ethiopia.
This list has left out 12 players after a week-long residential training camp at the African Bible University of Uganda play grounds in Lubowa.
The 12 players that have been dropped from the team include; Patrick Henry Kaddu, Simon Tamale, Nafian Alionzi, Gift Ali, Paul Willa, Nicholas Kasozi, Eric Ssenjobe, Arthur Kiggundu, Hassan Muhamood, Richard Basangwa and Jude Ssemugabi.
The team captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi will lead the team to Ethiopia.
“We have prepared well since day one of training. The response of the players has been top notch and we are ready to give our best,” Okwi said after the team’s last training on Wednesday evening.
The players arrived today in Addis Ababa and are expected to play a friendly match with Ethiopia on Sunday, 29th August 2021 in preparation for the game against Kenya for the FIFA World Cup group E qualifier on September 6,2021.
The players that made it to the list include; Charles Lukwago, Joel Mutakubwa, Enock Walusimbi, Innocent Esimu Wafula, Abdul Aziizi Kayondo, Halidi Lwaliwa, Murushid Juuko, Gavin Mugweri Kizito, Kenneth Ssemakula, Dennis Iguma, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Shafik Kuchi Kagimu, Ibrahim Orit, Milton Karisa, Steven Dese Mukwala, Richard Basangwa, Yunus Junior Sentamu, Abdul Lumala, Martin Kizza, Emmanuel Arnold Okwi ( Team Captain).
It is reported that six more foreign-based players will join the team in Ethiopia.
