John Kalitwa wins Mr. Uganda 2021 competition

John Kalitwa of Body Power Fitness Gym won this year’s Mr. Uganda body building championship which was held over the weekend at Horse Fitness Centre in Muyenga.

Kalitwa is now the new bodybuilding champion replacing Isaac Mubikirwa who has been the winner of Mr. Uganda championship for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019.

In 2020, the championship didn’t take place because of Covid-19. Kalitwa attributed his victory to hard work and persistence to become a champion

“I have been working hard to lift this gong and finally l am lifting my dream, winning this accolade didn’t come by chance but through hard work and resilience,” he said.

Kalitwa is a Science, CRE, and Islam teacher at Kibiri Modern Secondary school in Makindye.

He started his bodybuilding journey in 2017 and it was in 2019 when he won Mr. Kampala Light Heavyweight and 2nd runner up in the overall competitions.

In the women’s category, Sharon Nanyonga emerged as the winner while Safaru Tamale took the disabled category.
