Busoga United FC Defeats Vipers SC 1-0

Busoga United FC defeated title contenders, Vipers SC 1-0 at the Njeru based FUFA technical center Tuesday to improve their chances of surviving the StarTimes Uganda Premier League-UPL relegation zone. Ibrahim Kayiwa scored Busoga United’s lone goal in the second added minutes of the game.

Both teams enjoyed 50% ball possession throughout the 90 minutes of playing time. Busoga took advantage of the dying minutes of the game to edge out their guests, who had relaxed their defensive line to win the game. 

Afani Ikooba, the head coach of Busoga United says that their win has elevated their points from six to nine, which has strengthened their hopes of surviving the relegation zone. Ikooba further says that the boys have been enlightened with a winning spirit and they are willing to face off with all their league opponents without any inferiority complexities. 

“The boys know that we need all the points and irrespective of the opponents at play, our main target is to earn winning points against them,” he said. Viper’s head coach was still preparing to release a conclusive statement about the game by the time of filing this story. Gaddafi FC also beat URA FC 2-1 to win their game at the Kakindu stadium on Tuesday. 

Andrew Waiswa netted Gaddafi’s first goal from a penalty spot kick in the 20th minute.  Yaya Mahad doubled their lead with a shot on target in the 31st minute. George Ssenkaaba scored URA’s lone goal in the 88th, minute. 

Waiswa said their win resulted from teamwork and consistency exhibited by all players, whose main target is to finish off in the top positions of this season’s league.
