What you need to know about Uganda Civil Aviation Authority’s new Deputy Director General

The newly appointed Deputy Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority Olive Birungi Lumonya is expected to commence her duties on 15th November 2021.

Lumonya holds a Master’s Degree in Business administration from ESAMI, a Degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University. She’s a chartered Marketer (UK), a certified Balanced Score Card Champion (USA), and an Africa Board Fellow (ABF).

Before being appointed to deputize Mr. Fred Bamwesigye she worked with Nile Breweries Limited as a Brand Marketing Manager, then National Social Security Fund as Head of Marketing and Communications, and later joined SOS Children’s Villages Uganda as Country Director.

Lumonya has vast experience in corporate governance and has served on several boards in Private, government, and NGO sectors.  Some of the Boards include;  the UCAA Board for 6 years, Chairperson FINCA, DFCU Women in Business, PACE, UWESO, UMHG, UCRNN, and serving on the global  SOS Management committee representing the African region.

She also brings onboard experience in budgeting and financial management, human resources, and supporting organisations to become competitive, profitable while at the same time achieving the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.

She is an accomplished leader in the corporate and NGO sectors in Uganda. Her leadership experience, management, and Board engagement span over 20 years during which she is supported and guided on strategy and management for effectiveness. She is experienced in developing and implementing strategic business plans, customer service management, stakeholder engagement and communication, as well as people and performance management.
