We Will Not Hold Talks With Museveni – NUP
Recently, National Unity Platform’s Abed Bwanika made a suggestion that his party leaders should seek out President Museveni for a dialogue over members of the party that are held in prisons.
The party’s spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonti has dismissed the suggestion saying that they cannot plead with Museveni. “Yes, we are concerned about our colleagues and we continue visiting them in prison and also go to court when they are brought. This shows solidarity,” he said.
Bwanika said shying away from dialogue is cheap politics, but Ssenyonyi disagrees.
Ssenyonyi says the party will use the law to ensure its supporters are freed.
“They (the government) should expedite their trial if they have any evidence against them. Why are they delaying the trial? We believe in the law of this country and we shall continue following that,” Ssenyonyi said.
