UPDF Starts Investigations into Assault of Traffic Officer

Following a viral video in which a military police officer was seen assaulting a traffic officer, the UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen Felix Kulaigye has said the force has launched investigations into the matter. The incident happened at Mukwano mall along Kyaggwe road at Kiseka market, when military police officers driving a green vehicle registration number D02DF08P ordered the traffic officer to clear the way for them in vain leading to a scuffle.

In a statement, Kulaigye said the incident is regrettable. “The actions of this soldier are reprehensible and are not representative of UPDF as an institution that is known for its discipline and being a people’s army.”

“We extend our regrets to the affected persons, traffic department and Uganda Police in general. Investigations to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident have commenced and the findings will guide our next course of action,” reads a statement.
