UPDF Soldier Who Shot Traffic Officer on the Run
Uganda People’s Defense Forces has launched a hunt for one of their soldiers who is suspected to have shot a traffic officer in Ntinda on Sunday.
The traffic officer who was shot and injured was identified as Robert Mukebezi. According to a statement by the UPDF, the incident happened after a minor traffic accident.
“Preliminary information indicates that there was a misunderstanding between the traffic offer and the soldier regarding the recovery of a military vehicle that was involved in the accident. In the process, unfortunately, the traffic officer was shot and injured in the leg,” reads a statement by the UPDF in part.
The officer is said to have gained stability and that he is out of danger after receiving treatment at Mulago Hospital.
The UPDF says the search to arrest their soldier is underway and useful clues have already been obtained.
