Ugandans Question Move to Spend Shs2.4 Billion on Cars for Speaker & Deputy

Several Ugandans have questioned the move by the Ugandan parliament to procure two cars, of the Mercedes Benz S500 brand. The one speaker has already arrived in the country, and the second vehicle for the deputy speaker is expected to arrive in the country before the end of this week.

Many have described the deal as extremely extravagant especially during times when the country is grappling with inflation.

Mazima gathers that the cars will be posted to the offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker and not necessarily the people who occupy them.

Some of the car’s unique functions include fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, and voice-activated commands. The car can also self drive on a freeway and park itself once it senses a parking spot.
