A 58-year-old man and his 22-year-old son have been lynched by an angry mob in Mbarara shortly after being released on bail by court.
The two, Innocent Muhairwe and his son Alex Ssenyonga were granted bail by High Court in Mbarara on murder charges.
According to the Rwizi police spokesperson, Samson Kasasira, the duo was yesterday attacked and battered to death by an angry mob while they were checking on their gardens that had been destroyed 6 months ago, still by an angry mob.
Three family members of the deceased were not spared as they narrowly escaped with serious injures from the scuffle.
Kasasira identified the injured as Lawrence Asingwire,18, Ponsiano Tukahebwa,24, and Cleophas Turyahebwa,25.
” The mob used sticks, stones and pangas to attack the family members. They killed 2 and 3 escaped with serious injuries,” the police spokesperson said.

The victims are all residents of Kanyigiri village in Bukiro sub-county.
The deceased had been arrested for the murder of a local Boda Boda rider from the Same village.
Kasasira says the 2 had been on remand at Mbarara main prison since last year and they were committed to the High Court on January 19, 2021 where they applied for bail and were released on October 1, 2021.
