Two Die in Fort Portal Ambulance Accident

Two people on Thursday died and others were injured after an ambulance they were traveling in rammed into a stationary vehicle.

Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson identified the dead as Moses Kakooko 52, who was a teacher at Nyakasura School in Fort Portal, and Simon Baker.

The injured are; Francis Kongole and a yet-to-be-identified female, who were occupants of the ambulance and were rushed to Kabarole Hospital for treatment.

According to Twesige, the accident happened on Thursday at 9:30 pm in Kibedi, Mugusu Sub County along the Fort Portal –Kasese Highway.   He explains that the ambulance registration number UBK 137V that was heading to Fort Portal from Bunyangabu District rammed into a stationary vehicle registration number CG0 6078AA/19 that had got a mechanical condition and was parked in the middle of the road.

Twesige says that the ambulance was going to pick up a body from one of the hospitals in Fort Portal City.
