The families of jailed Members of Parliament, Allan Ssewanyana and Muhammad Ssegirinya have received 5 million each to facilitate them at home. The money was given to the MPs’ wives. Ssegirinya’s mother, Justine Nakajumba also got the same amount.
The money was handed to them by Deputy Speaker Anita Among’s aides after a closed-door meeting at Parliament.
The families have been demanding for the release of the MPs saying that they are the breadwinners.
The money was handed over in envelopes by Among’s aides.
Recently the two MPs were denied bail once again on account that investigations into charges preferred against them are incomplete. The MPs return to court on March 10, 2022.
