Rwanda President Paul Kagame Attends Gen Muhoozi’s Birthday Celebrations

On Sunday, Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame jetted into the country to attend the birthday celebrations of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is the First Son and commander of land forces in the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF).

Kagame had not been in the country for four years due to tensions between Uganda and Rwanda. Muhoozi who describes Kagame as his ‘uncle’ has helped ease tensions between the two countries.

Kagame arrived on Sunday and he attended a State Banquet hosted by President Museveni at State House in honor of the 48th Birthday of Muhoozi.

Through a tweet, President Museveni said he had held bilateral talks with his Rwandan counterpart before going for the celebrations.

“I held bilateral talks with H.E President Paul Kagame on a number of issues, especially on regional peace, stability and cooperation. I welcome H.E Kagame to Uganda.”

“President Paul Kagame for a dinner in honour of Lt Gen Kaineruagaba. I want to thank H.E Kagame for responding positively to Lt Gen Muhoozi’s invitation and coming to pay a visit to Uganda after years of not coming here.”
