President Museveni Appoints Maj Gen Geoffrey Katsigazi as New Deputy IGP

Maj Gen Geoffrey Katsigazi is the new Deputy Inspector General of Police, replacing Lt Gen Paul Lokech who died in August last year.

The new appointment was announced by the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Faruk Kirunda on Tuesday.

 “H.E President Kaguta Museveni has appointed Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi as Deputy Inspector General of Police, ” Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary said on Tuesday evening.

In November last year Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba was appointed to fill the position of Deputy IGP in acting capacity.

Previous Roles

Maj Gen Katsigazi  has previously been serving as the Deputy Commander of the UPDF Air Force. He has been in the position for one year. Before then, he was serving as the the Defence Liaison Officer at the East African Community headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania and Commander of the Motorized Infantry Brigade among other deployments.
