Police Probe Attack on Fort Portal Deputy RCC

Police in Fort Portal City on Monday started investigating an incident where the Deputy Resident City Commissioner- RCC Fort Portal North Division Allan Bamuha was allegedly attacked by unknown gunmen on Saturday night.

A source in security who preferred anonymity told URN that Bamuha has recorded a statement at the Fort Portal Central Police Station and in the statement, he says on October 29 at night as he left his house to go to a nearby hotel to buy supper, he was attacked by two men in civilian clothing who were riding on a motorcycle.

Bamuha says that the unidentified men who had been trailing him had a gun and attacked him but he run and too refugee in a local’s house where he called the security at Fort Portal CPS to the rescue.

The source says that security immediately swang into action, went to the scene and took the Deputy RCC to the Fort Portal police station where he recorded a statement.

However, while speaking to our reporter in a telephone interview over the matter, Bamuha said that what happened wasn’t an attack on him. He said that as he was moving from his house to a nearby restaurant to have supper in Booma on Saturday at around 7: 30 PM, he met two men on a motorcycle who had a gun and as a security person he got suspicious and reported the matter to police.

When contacted on the matter, Angalia Godwin Kasigwa the Resident City Commissioner of Fort Portal who also heads security in the city declined to comment on the issue saying that he could not comment until the police releases its report on the investigations.

The Rwenzori West Police spokesperson Vincent Twesige told our reporter that the matter was being handled by police and investigations are ongoing.
