Police arrests 35 for terrorizing motorists along Northern Bypass
Over the past couple of weeks, reports of motorists and pedestrians being terrorized along the Northern bypass in Kampala have been rife. This led to an operation by the security forces that has resulted into the arrest of 35 people who are suspected to be part of the racket that has been stealing from people and leaving some injured.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesgyire, relayed on Thursday that the suspects had been rounded off during an operation that started a fortnight ago.
“We conducted last night operations with UPDF in areas of Kisaasi, Ntinda, Nalya, Kiwatule, Kyebando, and Namboole, where more than 35 suspects were apprehended, they are currently detained at Kira-road and Ntinda police,” he said.
Owoyesgyire assured that as the police they will make sure they protect the lives of those who use Northern bypass. He said the operations are still going on and that they will leave no stone unturned.
Police had earlier arrested 70 suspects in connection to the robberies along the Northern bypass.
