Police arrest 58 suspects over robberies in Kampala

Following a public outcry by Kisangani residents in Masajja A Zone, Masajja Parish, Masajja Division about thugs that are based in their area and have been carrying out aggravated robberies in and around Kampala, the territorial police at Katwe station carried out an operation on Wednesday that led to the arrest of 58 suspects in the area.

The suspect have been allegedly participating in aggravated robberies targeting residential houses and persons in areas of Salaama, Masajja, Mutundwe and Bunamwaya.


During the operation, the police was able to recover narcotics substances, pangas, housebreaking implements and gloves that are used to cover fingerprints during the robberies.


The suspects arrested are currently detained at Katwe Police Division and will be processed and arraigned in courts of law.


“We want to also thank members of the public for providing reliable information to the police that made the operation a success,” ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson said.
