Over Eight People Summoned By Police Over Oulanyah Poison Claims

Nathan Okori, the father of the late Jacob Oulanyah, and eight other people have been summoned by the police to explain more claims that the deceased was poisoned. The police spokesperson said the summons had already been prepared on Monday.

“We are therefore summoning all those persons with other causes of death including poisoning for further interview and statement recording. These will include Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi who also mentioned Hon.Chris Baryomunsi, Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Hon. Santa Okot, Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, mzee Nathan Okori and Bosmic Otim,”police spokesperson Fred Enanga told journalists on Monday.

Enanga went on to say that medical reports had not indicated that there was poison in Oulanyah’s body. Okori on Friday insisted during the sending off his son that Oulanyah had told him some people had poisoned him. He didn’t mention names. In a media talk show after the burial, Hon Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi also said Oulanyah had told him the same. Kiwanda said he had shared the same message with Hon Chris Baryomunsi.

After visiting Okori in Omoro, Bobi asked government to investigate the poison claims.

“We are investigating those with other speculative causes and asking them to substantiate the same. The basis of investigation is on the medical records we have and we want to speak to those with contrary records,” Enanga said on Monday.
