The National Unity Platform has on Tuesday announced that they will back Tolit Simon Akecha, a former Forum for Democratic man who is no stranger in the political streets.
Tolit was introduced on Tuesday after a vetting exercise that saw four other members sidelined. He was unveiled by the party president Robert Kyagulanyi.
Tolit it can be recalled, beat Jacob Oulanyah in 2006 but was kicked out by Oulanyah in 2011. He will now tussle it out with Oulanyah’s son, Andrew Oulanyah who is running on the NRM ticket in the by-election race.
The position fell vacant following the death of Jacob Oulanyah.
By-elections are set to happen on May 26th.
