Novelist Kakwenza’s Children Unable to Get Passports 

Renowned novelist Kakwenza Rukirabashaija has revealed revealed that he has been trying to get a passport for his three children but applications have repeatedly been frustrsted. As such, Kakwenza has petitioned the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC).

In their petition, Kakwenza says the children  for passports as citizens of Uganda, paid for express passports processing, submitted all relevant information and attended necessary interviews in March, 2022, but without success.

“This is contrary to Article 29 (2) (c) of the Constitution of the Republic of iUganda, 1995 and Section 39 of the Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control Act, Cap 66 which guarantees the right of every Ugandan citizen a passport,” the lawyers quoted.

Kakwenza fled the country months back over what he called state persecution.
