New Finance Permanent Secretary, Ramathan Ggoobi assumes office
The new Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Finance, Ramathan Ggoobi has today officially received office from Patrick Ocailap, his Deputy who has been the Acting Permanent Secretary.
The handover ceremony happened on Wednesday 18th, August 2021, at the Ministry of Finance and the inauguration was witnessed by Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, Ministers of State and the Ministry’s top technical team.
Ggoobi thanked the President for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the technical team that is going to direct the economic policy of Uganda by recovering the economy to its pre-pandemic state.
Ggoobi said ” I am taking on this gigantic responsibility with full knowledge that like many other young nations,Uganda’s main challenge today is to build a sound economy and transform our society that is still largely pre-industrialist into a modern nation”.
“Thankfully, I am going to work with a team that is professionally apt,largely young,dynamic,intelligent,hardworking, enthusiastic and efficient”. He added.
Ramathan Ggoobi was born in Ngando, Kitagobwa – Butambala district. He attended Kitagobwa UMEA for both his Primary and Secondary education, before joining Makerere University.
In 2003, he graduated from Makerere University. Since he was among the best students, Ggoobi was retained to teach Economics at the University. In 2010, he attained his Masters Degree in Arts Economic Planning and Policy, Economics.
