Mutebile’s Widow Requests Govt to Let Family Retain Official BOU Governor’s House

On Thursday, parliament held a special sitting to pay tribute to the former Bank of Uganda Governor (BOU) Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile. Yet the body of the deceased was not in parliament, the session happened, and it was during the sitting that Bukooli Central MP Solomon Silwanyi asked government to allow the remaining family members of the Mutebile family to retain the house they have been residing in in Kololo.

Deputy speaker, Anita Among who presided over the sitting said Mutebile’s widow, Betty Mutebile had already made the request during a vigil on Wednesday. Among asked the Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa to ensure the house is given to the family in honour of the deceased’s integrity.

Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja said she would forward the matter to the President and she would then return with a response.

Mutebile died on Sunday in Nairobi where he had gone for treatment.

Mutebile will be buried on Monday and he will be accorded a State funeral.
