Muhoozi Has Not Retired—UPDF

Ugandan People’s Defense Forces spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulaigye has spoken out on the alleged retirement of the Commander of Land Forces, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Muhoozi recently announced on Twitter that he had retired after 28 years of service.

According to Kulaigye, Muhoozi has not yet formally applied for retirement, formally The army insists that Muhoozi is still an active member of the force.

Muhoozi seems to have sent out the tweet announcing his retirement only as a prank as he later shared a video in which he appeared with Andrew Mwenda saying that he would retire only after eight years.

Muhoozi’s retirement is linked to rumors that he is preparing to succeed his father as President of Uganda.
