Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament (MP), Betty Nambooze Bakireke has urged proprietors of private clinics especially in slum areas to reduce or remove consultation fees they charge patients upon visiting medical facilities.
According to her, most people go to hospital when they know their illness but upon visiting the hospital they are charged both consultation fees and treatment fees. Nambooze believes that the exorbitant fees have forced many to resort to staying home while practicing self-medication.

The Mukono Legislator revealed this during a free HIV and Hepatitis B testing/screening exercise that saw over 200 residents in Mukoko access the services in an initiative by Angle Medical Care which was opening its branch in Mukono Municipality.
According to Dr. David Musenze Lubega, the Director Angel Medical Care, their focus was to remind the public that HIV/AIDs is still existing.
