Moroto Prison break mastermind arrested
The master mind behind the Moroto Prison break has been arrested today in Kotido with a gun of 14 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect, Lokolikau Lochu, 40, was arrested during a joint search operation. The recovered gun is an SMG.No.UG.POL.56-5968030-40693 that Lochu has reportedly been using to carry out cattle raids according to a tweet by Uganda Police.
AIP Mike Longole , the Mt Moroto Region Police Public Relations says the gun belongs to Uganda Prisons and was stolen by one of the escapees who broke into the Moroto prisons armoury last year.
He added that the disarmament exercise against cattle rustlers is still going on.
The prisoners in Moroto prison on 16th September 2020 overpowered their guards and 219 of them took off with 15 guns and ammunitions.
