Minister Ruth Nankabirwa inspects Karuma Hydro-Power Plant works
Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, the Minister of Energy & Mineral Development (MEMD) on Tuesday inspected the progress of works at the 600MW Karuma Hydro-Power Plant.
On the visit, she was accompanied by Hon. Peter Aimat Lokeris – Minister of State for Minerals & Eng. Irene Pauline Batebe – Permanent Secretary – MEMD.

Albert Byaruhanga, the Project Manager, UEGCL led the delegation for a site inspection to the dam and intake section, switchyard, Karuma sub-station, underground main powerhouse, outfall and lastly to the employers camp. The project is currently at 98.8%.
“Upon completion, this plant will contribute greatly to the country’s installed total installed capacity and therefore we have to ensure we connect more Ugandans to the national grid.” said Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu.
