Earlier today, Hon. Ruth Ssentamu Nankabirwa, the Minister of Energy & Mineral Development accompanied by Hon. Okaasai Opolot – State Minister for Energy paid a visit to the Isimba hydropower plant as part of the energy Ministry’s tour. The Ministers were taken through the plant operations, achievements and challenges faced.
In her maiden visit to the plant, Hon. Nankabirwa visited the Isimba Bridge, Employers Camp, Dam and intake section, Helipad and the main power house. The plant is operated and maintained by UEGCL with UETCL as the main caretaker.

“I am here on a tour and I have come to learn. We should be set to deliver as a ministry working with all sector players and ensure we deliver reliable energy to the country. Short of that, we have failed,” Hon. Okaasai Sidronius Opolot said.
“I found 2 young men (UEGCL staff) in the control room and I called them patriots because of the noble work they are doing for this country. It gives me great joy that we have built capacity to operate such key facilities as government.” Hon. Ruth Ssentamu Nankabirwa said.
