Kenya’s Relationship with Uganda Still Firm – Ugandan government

On behalf of the governement of Uganda, the ministry of foreign affairs has issued a statement confirming a strong and bilateral relationship with its Kenyan neighbors.

The statement comes after a series of tweets made by the first son and commander of the land forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force -UPDF, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. In one of the tweets, Muhoozi wrote how it would take less than 2 weeks to capture Nairobi which is Kenya’s capital.

This statement sparked a conversation online especially on twitter where netizens questioned his motive and whether he was the one responsible or published the tweets

In another tweet, Muhoozi noted that Uhuru would have easily trounced current President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during the August 9 General Election.

“My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn’t stand for a third term. We would have won easily,” Muhoozi said in a series of tweets.

Uhuru Kenyatta, who served for two terms was barred by the Kenyan constitution from contesting for a another term in the recent concluded elections.

But Muhoozi, 48, suggests Mr Kenyatta should have changed the constitution to remain in power.

“Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us (Uganda), there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it!”

Now the government of Uganda has issued a statement regarding its relationship with the Kenyan neighbors.

The Kenyan high commission in Uganda has also confirmed its firm relationship writing on twitter ‘”

H.E. Maj.Gen. (Rtd) George Owinow met with Mr. Vincent Waiswa Bagiire, Permanent Secretary

@UgandaMFA this morning. While reaffirming the warm and brotherly relations between Kenya and Uganda, the two discussed other matters of mutual interest.”
