Residents of Kayaga Zone in Iganga Municipality on Sunday recovered a hand grenade dumped in the middle of the road.
Betty Nangobi, a resident says that the grenade was recovered about 20 meters away from her home. “My two sons informed me that, they had seen a metallic ball in the middle of the road. I became suspicious and alerted local leaders within the area,” she says
Musa Musenze, the LCI Chairperson says the hand grenade is suspected to have been abandoned by scrap dealers in the area.
The Busoga East Police Spokesperson said that a team of counter-terrorism personnel, and bomb experts from the UPDF’s Magamaga cantonment, detonated the grenade.
Nandawula says that security personnel is investigating the source of the grenade. She implored the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects to the authorities.
