Dr. Gerald Siranda, the Secretary-General of the Democratic Party ( DP) has been successfully voted as the party’s flag bearer for the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) elections.
The elections presided over by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Kiwanuka Mayambala took place over the weekend.
In a highly contested race, Dr. Siranda won with 24 votes and was closely followed by his opponent, Babirye Kabanda who gathered 22 votes.
The party President, Nobert Mao congratulated the winner upon his victory and promised to be the chief campaigner of the flag bearer in the EALA elections scheduled for next year.
Siranda is seeking to replace Fred Mukasa Mbidde whose term as EALA Ugandan representative ends next year.
