CID recovers part of UGX 3bn loot from UPPC top officials

Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Spokesperson, Charles Twiine has revealed that they have recovered part of the UGX 3 billion loot that had passed through an account of an imaginary commission agent.

The UGX 600 million was recovered from suspects who embezzled UGX 3 billion from Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation – UPPC

The UPPC Managing Director, Prof. Tom Davis Wasswa was arrested on Tuesday, 24th August 2021 on allegations of siphoning the money from the company.

The arrest followed his interdiction by the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda. On the same day, he was interdicted together with other top leaders at the Entebbe-based UPPC head quarters on allegations of corruption.

Other arrested officials include; Kitamuweesi Musubire, the Chairman Board of Drectors, Moreen Nyakato, the Acting Corporation Secretary and Andrew Senabulya, the Senior Internal Auditor.

“Detectives at CID headquarters have recovered Shs600 million from some suspects of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation.The money, which was destined for another accomplice in crime, was part of the Shs3bn loot that had passed through an account of a fictitious commission agent,” Twiine said.
