Campaign agent confiscates Ntungamo Woman MP’s documents over pay

An NRM campaign agent, Ashraf Rweyeshera has been arrested for confiscating the Ntungamo district MP Baata Kamatenti’s documents which included academic documents, land titles and marriage certificates.

The suspect reportedly withheld the documents because the legislator failed to clear a bill of Shs209 million that he is demanding from last year’s political campaigns.

Rweyeshera says Kamatenti promised to clear the debt after winning the election. The suspect added that he efficiently played his part of massively supporting the candidate morally, socially and financially.

Rweyeshera denied confiscating the documents and claims that Kamatenti gave the documents to him.

” She gave the documents to me. I was actually the one who took her academic documents to Kyandondo for reviewing,” the campaign agent said before adding that “We had a meeting where we agreed on the terms of mobilising support for her.”

The suspect also revealed that since then, Kamatenti only cleared Shs10 million and had cut off contact with him when he demanded for the balance.

Mazima’s efforts reach Hon. Kamatenti to comment on the matter have been futile.
