Buyende woman commits suicide after co-wife gives birth
The latest we have is that a woman from Buyende District has committed suicide after her co-wife (sister) gave birth.
The deceased has been identified as Phoebe Wansadha who was a resident of Namuningi village in Irundu Town Council, Buyende District.
According to residents, the deceased became barren after her uterus got damaged during the birth of her firstborn who died. More details reaching Mazima indicate that the deceased later asked her parents to give her young sister to the husband in a bid to keep the wealth.
It is said that when the sister gave birth, the deceased became jealous and hanged herself.
The Irundu police station OC CID David Baire said the deceased used a rope to hang herself inside the bedroom.
Baire allowed relatives to bury her after making a postmortem report.
