Breaking: Another Police Officer Shoots Self Dead after Attempting to Kill His Boss
A police officer attached to Makokoto police post in Kassanda District shot him dead on Wednesday morning under unknown circumstances.
According to Racheal Kawala, the Wamala region police spokesperson, the officer who has been identified as PC Kitiyo Alex, 47, is said to have first fired several bullets into the room of OC John Kakooza before locking himself into his room and shooting himself dead.
She noted that Police has since registered the case under police Number 1037 and they are investigating to find reasons behind his motive.
Kawala added that they are handling a case of attempted murder and suicide by shooting.
“Preliminary facts indicate that Kitiyo woke up and shot several bullets into the room of his in-charge police post John Kakooza while not talking anything, then he later returned to his room sat on his bed and shot himself dead,” she said.
She added, “Scene of crime has been visited and documented by our task team Relevant statements are being recorded to guide on investigation.”
This is another case of gun violence that is gripping the country with analysts urging security agencies to address officer’s mental health. Since the start of this month, a minister, a money lender, a UPDF soldier, a Uganda Christian University (UCU) student.
The student was identified as 21- year old, Natasha Nagayi and the suspect, Dismas Tebangole allegedly admitted to having shot the victim whom he suspected was trying to gain entrance to his house early in the morning.
“I heard someone attempting to open my main door using a key. I peeped through the window glass and I saw a person opening my door with a key. I wasn’t excepting anyone. I became suspicious and I discharged three bullets through the window glass,” ASP Tebangole is quoted by Police.
Other four private security guards have also died by use of a gun. However, some have killed themselves while others have been shot dead.
