A total of 76 Uganda People’s Defense Forces officers have this week been elevated to different ranks, according to a communiqué by the UPDF Spokesperson, Felix Kulaigye.
The announcement came through Twitter.
“Just In: H.E the President and C-in-C of UPDF has promoted 76 UPDF Officers. Among them, D/CMI Col Abdul Rugumayo to Brig Gen. 62 promoted from Captain to Major and 13 from Lieutenant to Captain. MODVA & UPDF congratulate the officers for the well-deserved promotions,” reads the tweet.
Government spokesperson congratulated one of the officers promoted, Rugumayo through a tweet, “This officer is a survivor! I remember when he was shot between Bobi-Palenga on Gulu road in 2002. He had his buttocks glazed by bullets. Later in 2009 he survived bomb explosion in Mogadishu & woke up in a Nairobi hospital. Congratulations for the long journey brother!”
