NMS Truck Overturns in Oyam Killing Two Occupants

A truck belonging to Uganda National Medical Stores (NMS) has overturned at Iyanyi trading centre in Loro Sub-county Oyam district killing two people.

The vehicle registration number UBJ 625 X overturned when one of its front tires burst and forced it to swerve off the road. By the time of filing this report, medical supplies were strewn across the road from where responders were collecting and repackaging them.

Robert Ekwaro, the area LC III chairperson said three NMS trucks believed to be delivering medical supplies to Lira, Alebtong and Otuke districts were moving in a convoy when the accident happened.

The deceased persons were identified as Alex Muzoora, the truck driver and Caroline Ainembabazi, a clerk. Ekwaro says upon retrieval, the bodies will be taken to Anyeka HCIV mortuary whereas the NMS truck and medical supplies will be moved to Loro Police Station for the night.
