Ministry of Health reports 121,510 cumulative COVID-19 infections

Uganda’s Health Ministry has reported 214 new COVID-19 cases from tests conducted in the last 24 hours, making the country’s cumulative virus load 121,510.

The breakdown of the new cases are; 211 alerts and contacts: Apac (32), Ngora (27), Kitgum (13), Tororo (11), Soroti (10), Napak (8), Kalungu (8), Kabale (8), Maracha (8), Kampala (22), Gulu (8), Kwania (6), Wakiso (4), Moyo (4), Mukono (3), Omoro (2), Abim (2), Arua (2),Agago (2), Amuria (2), Terego (1), Serere (1), Kotido (1), Masaka (1), Moroto (1), Kyegegwa (1), Kiryandongo (1), Adjumani (1), Bududa (1), Mbarara (1) Wakiso (17), Amuru (1), Kyotera (1), and 3 truck drivers; Kyotera (2), Kampala (1)

In the same period, the ministry recorded three new fatalities, making the total number of deaths 3,095.

Uganda is one of the 16 countries in Africa that have registered more than 100,000 COVID-19 infections.

The country has embarked on a nationwide vaccination campaign in efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

By Sunday, 12th September 2021, 1,593,947 vaccine doses had been administered.
