Police in Kampala have launched investigations into circumstances under which St Mary’s Junior School in Seeta was gutted by fire.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson, the incident happened on January 27 at around 11 am. The police was quick to respond and helped curb the fire from spreading over.
Owoyesgyire says there were no causalities registered as pupils were in class.
“The fire was extinguished by the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services. The fire incident is under investigation with an aim of ascertaining the exact cause,” reads a statement by the police.
“Schools are again reminded that fires are a challenge and should endeavor to put mechanisms in place to help detect fires as early as possible and also control them before they spread.”
