Singer Evelyn Lagu detained in Turkey over unpaid hospital bills
Singer Evelyn Lagu is being detained in Turkey over failure to clear hospital bills amounting to Shs100m.
In a video clip making rounds on social media, the singer who is still undergoing treatment revealed that she is being held at the hospital over the bills that have accumulated with the time of her stay.
Since Evelyn has failed to clear her debts, she is heard requesting help from notable personalities like Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanja, Gen. Salim Saleh, Mama Fiina and well wishers to run to her aid.
The singer explains that she has nothing since she has sold everything in her possession to treat her illness.
Evelyn travelled to Turkey with the aim of having a kidney transplant from her son but the doctors advised that she should instead get treatment and be put on a dialysis for the rest of her life. This was because the medical personnel found her body was too weak to handle a transplant putting her at a higher risk of losing her life.
The singer added that on further check, she was found with a heart disease which required the doctors to insert a machine to support her heart.
It is now two years since Evelyn Lagu has been in and out hospital battling different ailments and her trip to Turkey had given her hope of better health after rigorous campaign strategies to secure a funding.
