Joshua Baraka’s ‘Nana’ Remix Secures 3 AFRIMA Nominations

Unlike Gina (you and I don’t even tell your bestie, Gina), that Joshua Baraka mentioned in his hit “Nana”, we are definitely going to tell you all about his nomination.

Joshua Baraka is making personal history as a first-time nominee at this year’s AFRIMA awards following his chart-topping “Nana” remix.

The performer scored three nominations at the upcoming 10th edition of the awards that will be held at Meyerson Symphony Cente, Dallas-Texas on the 17th of September 2023. He’s up for Best collaboration, Song of the year and Video of the year.

Baraka’s nomination into the awards follows the success of his single ‘Nana’ that he did release earlier this year and has since crossed borders bagging over 2.5 million views on YouTube and close to 3M Spotify listens.

As the song became a hit, the Ugandan made sure we listen and enjoy it more by collaborating with fellow artists across the continent I.e Joeboy, King Promise and Bien of Sauti Sol that gave birth to ‘Nana’ remix that has got 3 nominations in the AFRIMAs.

Other Ugandans that got nominated in the awards include Eddy Kenzo (Best Male Artiste- East Africa), Spice Diana and Azawi – who will battle for the Best Female East African Artiste, Masaka Kids and the Ghetto Kids (African Dance Group of the year) and Producer 207 (producer of the year).

According to the statement, the highly anticipated awards show promises a grand affair filled with excitement, emotions, and extraordinary performances. It will be a time to look back on the incredible journey of AFRIMMA, highlighting the unforgettable moments, groundbreaking performances, and trailblazing artists who have graced its stage.
