Backlash as Jose Chameleone performs in Gulu

Several artistes last week travelled to Gulu city to meet with the coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, Gen Salim Saleh seeking financial aid.

Among the artists in attendance were Jose Chameleone who went as the leader of the Superstars Association accompanied by Carol Kasita, King Saha, Weasel and Palllaso.

After the meeting with Gen. Saleh, the artists are reported to have held a concert in the city.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, Chameleon is spotted performing his hit song, ‘Kigwa leero’ to a group of excited revealers who were not observing the Covid-19 guidelines. The party revealers were seen with no face masks and no social distance was being observed during the performance.

A section of the public have come to condemn the artist after the video emerged and questioning whether the lock down restrictions are non-applicable to certain individuals.

The Aswa regional Police spokesperson says they have opened a general inquiry file and they will examine the video that has since gone viral before they summon or make any arrests.

Jose Chameleon has not yet released a statement about the issue and efforts to get a comment from him have been futile.

The government banned public concerts since the outbreak of the first wave of Corona virus to curb down further spread.
