Gen Muhoozi in Rwanda to Meet President Kagame
Not long ago, the Commander of Land Forces in the UPDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba wrote a flattering message about the President of Rwanda, H.E Paul Kagame. Muhoozi described Kagame as his uncle and vowed to not allow anyone to fight him.
That message has now been succeeded with a visit to Rwanda. Muhoozi has on Saturday flown to Rwanda, and is expected to meet the President in a bid to solve the long-standing feud between Uganda and Rwanda.
Muhoozi shared pictures in which he is seen arriving at the Kigali International Airport.
He is expected to spend one day in Rwanda.
It can be recalled that in 2019, the Rwandan government closed its borders with Uganda over accusations of aiding rebels to destabilize their country (Rwanda)
The Ugandan government quashed the claims, but that didn’t help solve the hostility. Uganda, on the other hand, accuses Rwanda of infiltrating its security agencies.
Several talks between the two countries to iron out the differences have been held but nothing seems to change.
The two nations seem to have renewed their reconciliation talks. Just this week, President Museveni is said to have sent a special message to his Rwandan counterpart through his envoy, Adonia Ayebare.
