In addition to keynote speeches and startup presentations, one of the most talked-about panels was a discussion on how to get involved in tech as a business. Shamira led the discussion, guiding women on how to get involved in technology by first identifying people’s problems, looking for solutions, finding the right partners, and adopting suitable technology. As a business owner, one should listen to their clients, sell the value of the product, not just the product itself, and scale the business by learning to partner and build for scale.

The panel also discussed strategies for success in starting and growing a business. Vaolah Amumpaire, Founder, and CEO of Wena, Jane Acilo, Managing Director of Abja Estates, Parks, and Farms, and Antonia Lorenz, Founder of WAYA Clothing shared their insights. The overall event provided networking and collaboration opportunities, allowing attendees to join free spaces, take up free opportunities to learn, and work together.

Tubayo Market Day 2023 was a massive success, bringing together some of Uganda’s brightest minds in technology to share their ideas and insights. The event showcased various women and men-led businesses and highlighted how technology is becoming increasingly important across different industries. It provided a platform for startups to gain exposure and connect with investors. We eagerly anticipate seeing what Women’s Day 2024 has in store.
