The Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has resolved to enforce the Standard Operation Procedures in the fight against Ebola.
Thaddeus Musoke Nagenda the chairman KACITA while speaking to journalists in Kampala on Thursday said that They have set up a task force that will work with police and KCCA to ensure that all the SOPs are observed especially in downtown Kampala.
According to Nagenda, KACITA will start with a sensitization program to equip traders with knowledge about Ebola and how they can prevent the spread of the disease.
The task force according to Nagenda will work with Kampala Capital City Authority to make sure that there is a full implementation of the SOPs in all the arcades and work areas in Kampala.
Isa Ssekitto the Spokesperson of KACITA said that sensitization will start with the traders in St Balikudembe Market. Ssekitto urged traders to be vigilant and to report a suspected case to government health facilities.
Last month, the Ministry of Health declared an outbreak of Ebola disease, after a case was confirmed in a village of Madudu sub-county in Mubende District. Since then Health minister, the disease has killed 30.
At least 15 positive cases have been confirmed in Kampala.
