150 Timber Shops in Bwaise Razed by Fire

The police in Kampala is investigating circumstances under which a total of about 150 furniture shops in Bwaise were razed down by a fire. The fire is said to have started at around 4:00am, destroying a lot of property, like new beds, chairs that were stocked in the various shops.

Although the fire is believed to have been caused by illegal connections of electricity, the police is yet to give a conclusive statement on the matter.

The fire was put out by the police using fire extinguishers, but locals say the rescue team arrived a little too late, and there was little to save.

Traders who lost property want the government to compensate them.
